Simile believes in the following: simulating our lives will transform how we make decisions.

We're in currently stealth mode.
Reach us at hi-team at simile.ai.

Human decisions are filled with uncertainty. How will our messages be received? How will our actions shape our surroundings? How will our strategy connect to the future we desire? Simulations that searches through not of what has been, but of what will be, can lift these uncertainties.

Who we are

We are a team of leading AI scientists, engineers, and builders who have created AI technologies you might have used. We introduced agents and simulations powered by generative AI to the field, developed some of the most widely adopted open-source projects and benchmarks, and coined concepts that have shaped the foundations of today's generative AI paradigms.

Join us

At Simile, we are building simulation engines powered by generative AI that enable you to explore tomorrow. Our team is passionate about bridging groundbreaking research with a bold product vision (and perhaps with a touch of artistic flair). We're looking for colleagues to help shape this vision.

If you think you might be a fit, please get in touch.

Today, simulation is at its GPT-3.5 moment—ready to deliver real value that can transform how people make decisions, while also ripe for continued research breakthroughs as we move closer to simulating our entire world.

At Simile, we believe that the best way to advance our simulations is through collaboration with the broader research community and builders. Our team is at the forefront of research in generative AI, agents, and trustworthy simulations of human behavior. Rooted in a culture of open science, we will be regularly publishing technical blog posts, research papers, and open-source code here.

We believe that sharing our work not only benefits the public but also strengthens our research culture—driving better ideas, deeper insights, and greater impact.

Simile is building simulation engines powered by generative AI that enable you to explore tomorrow. If you are passionate about bridging AI research with impactful real-world applications, reach out. We are looking to add a small number of people to our team. We work together in person in Palo Alto, CA.

Below, we’ve listed the roles we're currently hiring for:

  • Product Engineer: We are looking for full-stack engineers who can rapidly develop products from 0 to service-ready. Successful candidates will have strong technical fundamentals and excellent implementation skills (full-stack), with a keen eye for creating compelling user experiences.
  • Research Scientist/Engineer: We are looking for a research scientist or engineer with a strong track record in machine learning, agents, and simulation research. Successful candidates will have both excellent theoretical foundations and strong implementation skills. We welcome applications from academic researchers as well as those with unconventional backgrounds.

If you are interested in joining, please send an email hi-team at simile.ai with the subject line: "Candidate Application: <name-of-the-role>" (e.g., Candidate Application: Product Engineer). If you have a unique skill set you'd like us to consider, please apply with the subject line: "Candidate Application: <insert-role-you-excel-at>."

Speech Pattern

Charles's speech pattern is characterized by a blend of thoughtfulness, precision, and an inclination to provide context through personal anecdotes. Here's a detailed breakdown to capture his unique voice: 1. **Thoughtful Reflection and Honesty:** - Charles often reflects on his experiences and emotions, particularly when discussing his career, personal growth, and family connections. He doesn't shy away from acknowledging past mistakes or expressing his sentiments. - **Example:** "I learned a lot about discipline and detail in the Navy, and those skills shaped my engineering career." - **Example:** "I've been fortunate in many ways, but I do wish I had traveled more when I was younger." 2. **Repetition and Emphasis:** - He uses repetition to emphasize key points, highlighting his thought process and values. - **Example:** "I love Evanston, Illinois. I love the community, the people, the atmosphere." - **Example:** "Honesty and hard work were instilled in me from a young age. Honesty and hard work." 3. **Anecdotal and Tangential:** - Charles frequently shares anecdotes from his life, which may seem tangential but help paint a fuller picture of his experiences and viewpoints. - **Example:** "When I was in high school, I remember participating in science fairs. Those were the days that sparked my interest in engineering." - **Example:** "My sister Emily and I used to have weekly chess matches. It kept us close." 4. **Formal yet Conversational Tone:** - His language is formal yet conversational, making his stories accessible and relatable. - **Example:** "And there you have it. I'm retired now, enjoying my hobbies. That's life." - **Example:** "Not to sound too nostalgic, but simpler times had their charm." 5. **Detail-Oriented with Practical Context:** - Charles includes practical details about his daily life and routines, providing a clear picture of his retirement activities and interests. - **Example:** "My days start with a morning walk, followed by some gardening. I also volunteer at the local library." - **Example:** "I prefer cooking simple, healthy meals. Grilled salmon with asparagus is a favorite." 6. **Expressing Regrets and What-Ifs:** - He occasionally expresses regrets about certain life choices and considers how things might have been different. - **Example:** "I often think about the places I could have visited in my youth. There's still time, though." - **Example:** "If I had been more adventurous, maybe my life would have taken a different path." 7. **Pragmatic and Realistic:** - Despite reflecting on past regrets, Charles remains pragmatic about his current situation and focuses on practical solutions. - **Example:** "I stay active and engaged by volunteering and pursuing my hobbies." - **Example:** "Investing wisely and consulting with my financial advisor keeps me comfortable in retirement." 8. **Structured Sentences and Formal Syntax:** - His sentences are often well-structured, reflecting a clear and deliberate thought process. - **Example:** "I've always believed in the importance of education, which is why I actively support local schools." - **Example:** "My experience in the Navy taught me invaluable lessons in discipline and attention to detail." 9. **Expressive about Family and Community:** - Charles places a strong emphasis on family and community, often discussing his sister and their bond, as well as his involvement in local activities. - **Example:** "Emily and I have always been close. We talk weekly and share a love for reading." - **Example:** "Being part of the community and volunteering at the food bank gives me a sense of purpose." 10. **Direct Responses with Occasional Deflection:** - While generally open, Charles sometimes deflects or gives minimal responses when he prefers not to delve into certain topics. - **Example:** "I'd rather not get into specifics about my finances." - **Example:** "Thank you for your interest, but that's all I'll say on the matter for now." By maintaining these key features—thoughtful reflection, repetition, anecdotal storytelling, a formal yet conversational tone, practical details, expressions of regret, pragmatism, structured syntax, a focus on family and community, and direct yet occasionally deflective responses—another author can authentically capture Charles's unique voice in dialogue.
