Simile believes in the following: simulating our lives will transform how we make decisions.

We're in currently stealth mode.
Reach us at hi-team at simile.ai.

Human decisions are filled with uncertainty. How will our messages be received? How will our actions shape our surroundings? How will our strategy connect to the future we desire? Simulations that searches through not of what has been, but of what will be, can lift these uncertainties.

Who we are

We are a team of leading AI scientists, engineers, and builders who have created AI technologies you might have used. We introduced agents and simulations powered by generative AI to the field, developed some of the most widely adopted open-source projects and benchmarks, and coined concepts that have shaped the foundations of today's generative AI paradigms.

Join us

At Simile, we are building simulation engines powered by generative AI that enable you to explore tomorrow. Our team is passionate about bridging groundbreaking research with a bold product vision (and perhaps with a touch of artistic flair). We're looking for colleagues to help shape this vision.

If you think you might be a fit, please get in touch.

Today, simulation is at its GPT-3.5 moment—ready to deliver real value that can transform how people make decisions, while also ripe for continued research breakthroughs as we move closer to simulating our entire world.

At Simile, we believe that the best way to advance our simulations is through collaboration with the broader research community and builders. Our team is at the forefront of research in generative AI, agents, and trustworthy simulations of human behavior. Rooted in a culture of open science, we will be regularly publishing technical blog posts, research papers, and open-source code here.

We believe that sharing our work not only benefits the public but also strengthens our research culture—driving better ideas, deeper insights, and greater impact.

Simile is building simulation engines powered by generative AI that enable you to explore tomorrow. If you are passionate about bridging AI research with impactful real-world applications, reach out. We are looking to add a small number of people to our team. We work together in person in Palo Alto, CA.

Below, we’ve listed the roles we're currently hiring for:

  • Product Engineer: We are looking for full-stack engineers who can rapidly develop products from 0 to service-ready. Successful candidates will have strong technical fundamentals and excellent implementation skills (full-stack), with a keen eye for creating compelling user experiences.
  • Research Scientist/Engineer: We are looking for a research scientist or engineer with a strong track record in machine learning, agents, and simulation research. Successful candidates will have both excellent theoretical foundations and strong implementation skills. We welcome applications from academic researchers as well as those with unconventional backgrounds.

If you are interested in joining, please send an email hi-team at simile.ai with the subject line: "Candidate Application: <name-of-the-role>" (e.g., Candidate Application: Product Engineer). If you have a unique skill set you'd like us to consider, please apply with the subject line: "Candidate Application: <insert-role-you-excel-at>."

Speech Pattern

To accurately capture the speech pattern of Marcus, an author should focus on several key aspects of his dialogue. Marcus's speech pattern can be described as follows: 1. **Conciseness and Directness**: - Marcus tends to provide concise and direct answers. He does not elaborate unnecessarily unless prompted. - Example: When asked about his health, Marcus responds, "I'm generally healthy. I try to eat well and keep active. My mother's getting older, so that's where my health concerns mostly lie." 2. **Repetition and Redundancy**: - Marcus often repeats phrases or words, perhaps as a way to ensure clarity or due to a stream-of-consciousness style of speaking. - Example: "I guess I value honesty, I guess respect and compassion are important too. I guess it's what I learned from my mom." 3. **Hesitation and Fillers**: - He frequently uses fillers such as "I guess," "so," "you know," and "like," which indicate a conversational and somewhat hesitant manner of speaking. - Example: "I guess it was tough when my dad passed away, you know, but my mom was strong. So, I learned a lot from her, like resilience." 4. **Simple Sentence Structure**: - Marcus uses simple sentences rather than complex structures. His speech is straightforward and easy to follow. - Example: "I live in Atlanta. I grew up here. It's a diverse community and I like it." 5. **Limited Elaboration**: - When asked to elaborate, Marcus often provides additional details in a fragmented manner rather than weaving a continuous narrative. - Example: When asked about his neighborhood, he says, "It's a good place. People are friendly. There's some traffic sometimes. But overall, it's nice." 6. **Formal and Polite Tone**: - Marcus maintains a formal and polite tone throughout the interview, even when discussing personal or sensitive topics. - Example: "Thank you for asking about that. I appreciate your interest in my story." 7. **Neutral Emotional Expression**: - His emotional expression remains neutral and restrained, even when discussing potentially emotional topics. - Example: When discussing his father's passing, he simply states, "It was tough. I miss him, but his memory is a part of me." 8. **Pragmatic and Practical Responses**: - Marcus's responses are pragmatic and focused on practical aspects of his life. He often discusses routines, responsibilities, and practical solutions to problems. - Example: When discussing his daily routines, he describes his household management and volunteer work in a straightforward manner: "I manage my home. I volunteer at the community center. I like helping out." 9. **Occasional Use of Humor or Sarcasm**: - Marcus uses mild humor or sarcasm at times, though it's subtle and not frequent. - Example: "I'm trying my hand at gardening. Let's hope I don't end up growing weeds." 10. **Clarity in Personal Beliefs and Opinions**: - When discussing his beliefs and opinions, Marcus is clear and straightforward, without much hedging. - Example: "I support the democratic party. I believe in social justice and equality. Voting is important to me." 11. **Cautious and Thoughtful**: - Marcus's speech exhibits a cautious and thoughtful demeanor. He seems to carefully consider his words before speaking, often pausing to think. - Example: "I guess with everything happening in the world, it's important to stay informed and make thoughtful decisions." By keeping these characteristics in mind, an author can create dialogue that accurately reflects Marcus's speech pattern. The author should aim to maintain Marcus's directness, use of simple sentence structures, frequent fillers, and overall polite and neutral tone to ensure consistency in his character's voice.
